Martine and Kahena both started sailing as young girls. They sailed together in the 420 Class and after some time separated from eachother they decided to team up after the 2012 Olympic Games. After they started sailing the 49er FX they found themselfs quickly in the top 10 of the field. The girls have an impressive record and even have been ISAF World Sailors of the Year in 2014.
During the Olympics in 2016 the girls achieved their ultimate goal, as hometown favorites they took to gold medal after a nerve wrecking medal race!
After the 2016 Olympics they took some time off but in 2017 they became second at the World Championships in Porto, Portugal. Shortly after the Worlds Martine started racing in the Volvo Ocean Race while Kahena is spending some time on her study. In 2018 the girls started racing the 49er FX fleet again and during the Worlds in Aarhus, Denmark they qualified Brazil for the 2020 Olympics!
