In 9 weeks time we'll present you new portraits of the Magic Marine family, sailor's dilemmas and the latest updates about our qualified sailors. Every week we will send you an update in which we will also share their favorite Magic Marine items! And even though all qualifying options for the members of the Magic Marine family are behind us, there still are a few milestone events on the agenda before summer starts on which we will keep you posted!
Being the 4th generation of sailors in his family, Peruvian sailor Stefano Peschiera was taken out on his grandfather's 42-foot classic wooden sailboat from the age of two. At 7 his parents signed up for the yacht club's Optimist sailing school. In the Optimist class he won three South Americans and finished 2nd and 3rd at the Team Racing Worlds.
When he was 15 years old and too big for the Optimist he switched to the Laser Class. At a young age of only 20 years, Stefano is studying and sailing at the College of Charleston, South Carolina, USA. During his study he managed to qualify himself for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016, a great achievement while studying!
Stefano only started sailing full time since he graduated school in 2018. That same year, again he managed to qualify Peru for the Olympic Games. He was the first Peruvian that qualified that early and to have qualified to Rio 2016 and to Tokyo 2020.
Stefano: 'During the pandemic I moved to Europe and sailed most of the regattas. In February 2020 I started working with my current coach Steven Le Fevre from the Netherlands. This year we spent most of our time in Lanzarote and Vilamoura training with a really strong group of sailors. The Allianz Regatta in the Netherlands will be the last regatta before the Olympics.'
