At a young age of only 20 years, Peruvian sailor Stefano Peschiera is studying and sailing at the College of Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Being the 4th generation of sailors in his family, he was taken for rides on his grandfather's sailboat since the age of two. In the Optimist class he won three South Americans and finished 2nd and 3rd at the Team Racing Worlds. During his study Stefano managed to qualify himself for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, a great achievement next to his study! After he graduated from the College of Charleston in 2018 he is sailing full time in the laser class.
During the World Sailing wolds in Aarhus 2018 he managed again to qualify Peru for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, the first Peruvian that was qualified that early!
